long time no see...

Yes, I have been away from this blogging life for some time. I needed time away- time to spend with my family, time to just enjoy reading other blogs, time to read books just for me and some for work (I can't seem to get away from that). Just time-

We have just started Spring Break this week. I can't believe that the year is almost at its final stages! I have started my almost end of the year what have I done reflections. This isn't my finished thoughts- just getting started.
  • I have come to love my new set of teaching family members. It was hard opening up to new people- but the teachers that I have connected myself with are truly amazing. They make me laugh, they make me know that what I am doing is making a difference. They make me happy. It is a good feeling.
  • I will always call my first teaching school home. This is the place that allowed me to grow my wings and fly. This was the place that allowed me to try different approaches, ideas, projects and learn from them. I will always love my first home-
  • I feel like the year is over and I am just getting started. I found myself sitting my community talk and discuss our new read aloud thinking...."Dang, they are just getting it! They have finally figured this out and it is almost over!!!" This lead me to wonder how I can make this process come sooner? Can I do that, or does it just take slow to grow?
  • I see a really need to create a reading curriculum for next year. Yes, we have our basal, however, I have realized that I am making a joint approach of workshop and basal work for my students. This will be my summer goal- to create a year long unit of study for reading that will merge with our districts basal. It needs to be done- so I am on it!
  • MY COMMUNITY LOVES to read. They love IR & they love sharing what they are reading. I have come to find that our daily sharing has become just as important as our time to read. With that being said, my students also love our book chats. This is time for me to introduce new books to the class. They in return are bringing new books to class to share as well- they are getting it.
These are just a few of my thoughts----I will share more as they come to me.
Happy Spring my friends!

I'm glad you're back. :)

And, yes, it takes a lot of slow to grow.
